Hugo Chavez Welcomed By Fawning London Mayor

Chavez is going to London where he'll be welcomed by that city's mayor, Ken Livingststone. While Tony Blair's government will not play state host on this "private visit," Livingstone defends his overtures toward Chavez thusly: "He's won 10 elections for his party in the last decade and he's pushed through a whole programme of social reform." Democracy chuckled before realizing Livingstone was serious. Others have a different take on Chavez's accomplishments, which include the suppression of free speech and other alleged human rights violations in Venezuela.

Remember when Giuliani kicked Arafat out of the opera? That was quality. This is like that, but the opposite.
